Director of Information Technology Business Systems

My firm has been engaged to find a Director of Information Technology, for a dynamic and growing environmental services company headquartered in Houston. This firm enjoys a very forward thinking, progressive management team who understand the importance of information technology and the benefits it provides.

In this role, the hired person will be responsible for leading the development and support of a division’s application systems. These applications include both custom built applications and hosted packaged applications.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Identify, plan and implement processes and projects to support assigned divisions needs and specifications
  • Applications responsible for include
    • a custom built, complex Order Management application, built in .Net
    • a customization of a hosted CRM system
    • a client facing web based extranet systems

  • Works with support personnel and business applications teams on projects as appropriate.
  • Evaluates third party applications for integration and implementation into existing business portfolio as necessary.
  • Provides functional support to some applications as necessary.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Manage team of two direct reports, an outsourced application service provider, and a team of third party offshore developers


JOB RELATED EXPERIENCE


• 10 + years of progressively responsible experience
• Experience managing development and support some combination of most of the following; CRM Systems, Order Management Systems, Customer facing extranets
• Proven experience with all components of a project lifecycle such as Planning, Analysis, Design, Construction and Testing.
• Effective leadership skills to lead and engage proper resources to resolve problems.
• Excellent understanding of data analysis , normalization and rationalization
• Strong internal customer focus
• Understanding of business processes
• Track record of successful systems implementations involving implementation of new technologies and processes
• Well-developed business acumen
• Well-developed ability to translate business acumen into actionable plans
• Well-developed people management and development abilities
• Well-developed technical writing and verbal communication skills
• Effective communication skills with all levels of management
• Well-developed planning and organization skills
• Well-developed ability to prioritize to meet multiple deadlines
• Well-developed ability to operate in an ambiguous environment
• Well-developed analytical skills
• Well-developed leadership abilities
• Well-developed ability to build positive relationships and handle conflict resolution

EDUCATION/CREDENTIALS


• Undergraduate degree in information technology, computer science or computer engineering or related field of study
